Pregnancy can be an exciting time, but it can also be challenging too. You need the support of a team you can trust. At Galambila, we’ll be with you, every step of the way.

Pregnancy, early years and youth health are vital to the overall wellbeing of the community.

It’s for this reason, we have a child and family nurse and two Aboriginal health workers that specialise in child and youth health. The team works with our doctors to support families to bring up strong and healthy children.

Support during your pregnancy

When pregnancy is established you will receive a referral to the onsite Midwives and Obstetrician (Mid North Coast Local Health District staff) for support during the pregnancy. The AMIHS Program Obstetrician and Midwives co-ordinate your care while you are pregnant.

After your baby is born

When your baby is 6 weeks old, you will have an appointment with our Child and Family Nurse and a Galambila GP. They will check your baby’s progress and development and provide support to Mum and Dad. It’s at this time your baby will have a six-week immunisation and Mums will have a postnatal check.

Ongoing home visits with our Child and Family Nurse are available for growth and development checks and immunisation.

Further support

If you or your child needs further support, a referral and appointment can also be arranged at Galambila with:

  • a specialist children’s doctor (paediatrician)
  • dietician
  • speech therapist
  • audiologist
  • occupational therapist
  • child psychologist
