Galambila has been providing health services to the Aboriginal community for nearly 28 years. In 1998 it was recognised the Aboriginal people of the Coffs Harbour region needed a dedicated medical centre, without needing to travel over an hour away to access culturally appropriate services.
Starting as a GP clinic with just five staff, Galambila became independent in 2008 and we are now an Aboriginal organisation employing over 70 staff across various locations on the mid north coast and see over 900 patients per month.
At Galambila we have a range of health care services available that aim to close the gap and keep our mob healthy and living longer. General medical and community health services and programs, empower and support you to achieve wellness through prevention, treatment and health management activities.
Our goal is to improve the health of our people and the community.
It is our aim to deliver services with cultural integrity and sensitivity, by our people, for our people.
We want to empower our mob to improve their health and wellbeing as we strive to make a difference in the lives of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in the Coffs Harbour region.
The clinic now provides you with a range of services including:
We also assist with referrals to other specialist and allied services and provide clients with transport to and from the clinic and to specialist services.
At Galambila all fees are bulk billed, however there are a few fees where Medicare benefits are not payable, such as:
There are no fees for cancellations or missed appointments at Galambila however our clients may receive Failed to Attend warnings.
Some specialists referred to off-site may not bulk bill. We do have Brokerage, as well as Integrated Team Care (ITC), that can assist with theses costs.
Please have a yarn to your GP to see if you are eligible for this assistance.
